The International Society for Men's Health (ISMH) is an international, multidisciplinary, worldwide organization, dedicated to the rapidly growing field of sex- and gender-specific medicine.

No single factor is responsible for differences in sex and gender. Rather, a number of genetic, hormonal, physiological and experiential factors shape an individual. Sex differences occur throughout the human lifespan, from the intrauterine environment through early development and puberty to adulthood. Their specific expressions are various at different stages of life. To continue to advance human health and medical practice, research on and knowledge of sex and gender differences in health and illness across the lifespan are essential.

The ISMH presents a unique and innovative opportunity for global information and experience exchange in the field of men's health.

The ISMH is an international scientific network and multidisciplinary society of physicians and other professionals in the field of public health, gender medicine and social sciences. Its goal is to increase health professionals' awareness of sex- and gender-specific medicine and of men's health.

The need for sex- and gender-specific medicine is accepted - the challenge is to make it effective!
